چکیده

Engineered stone (ENS) is a type of artificial composed wastes bonded together by polymeric matrix. ENS presents profitable alternative for solid waste management, since its production adds value to the reusing it as raw material and reduces environmental disposal. The present work’s main goal produce an based on quartz powder waste, glass packaging epoxy resin. were size-distributed fine sieving method. Then, closest-packed granulometric mixture, well minimum amount resin that would fill voids these mixtures, was calculated. plates prepared with 15%wt (ENS-15) 20%wt (ENS-20) vibration, compression (10 tons 20 min at 90 °C), vacuum 600 mmHg. sanded cut physical, chemical, mechanical tests. Scanning electron microscopy analysis fractured specimens performed. ENS-15 presented 2.26 g/cm3 density, 0.1% water absorption, 0.21% apparent porosity, 33.5 MPa bend strength resistant several chemical staining agents. results classified high-quality coating material, technically economically viable, properties similar commercial stones. Therefore, development meets concept sustainable development, this proposed novel could be marketed building simultaneously minimize are currently disposed in landfills.

Moisture Diffusion Properties of Fabric Composite (Glass Fiber/Epoxy Resin)

In this study, the effect of hygrothermal conditioning on the moisture diffusion properties of the fabric composite (glass fiber/epoxy resin) was investigated. The water uptake of the specimens conditioned in humid environment at different relative humidities (0, 60 and 96 % r.h) at constant temperature (60°C) was evaluated by weight gain measurements. The moisture diffusion properties of the f...

Inhibitory Effect of Waste Glass Powder on ASR Expansion Induced by Waste Glass Aggregate

Detailed research is carried out to ascertain the inhibitory effect of waste glass powder (WGP) on alkali-silica reaction (ASR) expansion induced by waste glass aggregate in this paper. The alkali reactivity of waste glass aggregate is examined by two methods in accordance with the China Test Code SL352-2006. The potential of WGP to control the ASR expansion is determined in terms of mean diame...

Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Resin Mortar with Sand Washing Waste as Filler

The objective of this study was to investigate the potential use of sand washing waste as filler for epoxy resin mortar. The mechanical properties of four series of mortars containing epoxy binder at 10, 15, 20, and 25 wt. % mixed with sand blended with sand washing waste filler in the range of 0-20 wt. % were examined. The compressive and flexural strength increased with the increase in epoxy ...

Cellulose whisker/epoxy resin nanocomposites.

New nanocomposites composed of cellulose nanofibers or "whiskers" and an epoxy resin were prepared. Cellulose whiskers with aspect ratios of approximately 10 and approximately 84 were isolated from cotton and sea animals called tunicates, respectively. Suspensions of these whiskers in dimethylformamide were combined with an oligomeric difunctional diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A with an epoxide...

The effect of powder/liquid ratio on microleakage of resin-modified glass-ionomer

Introduction: Resin modified glass-ionomer cement (RMGI) is prepared by  manual mixing of powder and liquid. Different mixing ratios influence on the RMGI properties. The aim was to compare the effect of different mixing ratios on the microleakage of RMGI. Materials &Methods: In this in vitro study, 60 Class V cavities (3×2×1.5 mm) with the gingival margin of 1 mm apical to ...
